Chosen to Make Disciples
Text:
Mark
3:13-15
Theme:
Getting Ready to Make Disciples
Introduction:
Before an athlete competes, he or she undergoes
training. The coach is central to this training.
Before a new employee undertakes the first job
assignment, he or she receives training from a
supervisor.
Outline:
I.
Jesus' Choice of Disciples (Mark 3:13)
A. He Wanted Disciples (He wants disciples today
too.)
B. They Came to Him (Who will accept His
invitation today to be His disciples?)
II. Jesus Chose Twelve to Be with Him (Mark 3:14a)
A. Being with Jesus Is a Privilege (a greater
privilege than spending time with any earthly
ruler)
B. Being with Jesus Is a High Priority (There is
no better way to spend time.)
III. Jesus Commissioned the Twelve (Mark 3:14b-15)
A. He Sent Them Out (Mark 3:14b; Christians are
sent into the world as the Lord’s ambassadors. See
2 Cor 5:20.)
B. He Gave Them a Specific Task (Mark 3:14b; Our
task, too, is to proclaim Christ—to make
disciples.)
C. He Gave Them Authority (Mark 3:15; He has given
us authority to make disciples, and even the gates
of hell will not prevail against us. Therefore,
with confident faith we can go and make
disciples.)
Conclusion:
Knowing that Jesus wants us to spend time with Him
so that He might send us out to make disciples,
let’s cultivate a strong devotional life and a
willingness to obey His teachings and make
disciples.
