The First Family
Text: Genesis
3:1-24
Theme: The
first family was perfectly designed by our loving
Creator.
Introduction:
Every family should enjoy loving relationships,
but loving relationships do not develop without
prayerful effort. Unfortunately, many families
experience conflict, heartache, and mistrust. A
journey back in time to visit the home of earth's
first family allows us a glimpse of what the
Creator intended families to be.
Outline:
I. God Created Man:
the Husband (verses 1-17)
A. When all creation
was ready to receive him (verses 1-3)
B. He gave man
purposeful work (verses 4-15)
C. He gave man a
perfect environment (verses 8-15)
D. He gave man a
test (verses 16, 17)
II. He Created
Woman: the Wife (Genesis 2:18-22a)
A. To complement the
man (verse18)
B. To be loved by
the man (taken from a place near Adam's heart
(verses 20a-22a)
C. To be one with
the man (Gen. 2:22b-24)
Conclusion:
The first family was created as a loving unit with
the responsibility of obeying God and the
privilege of complementing one another. The first
man and woman enjoyed a little bit of heaven on
earth before they disobeyed God and plunged the
human race into sin. Men and women who become
reconciled to God through Jesus Christ have a
great opportunity to obey God and enjoy loving
family relationships-establishing a little bit of
heaven on earth.
